When young people think of the 80s, they think about bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Madonna and Simple Minds. They think of day-glo, leggings and plastic sun glasses. When I was 12-13 though, no band seemed to capture the spirit of the 1980s Los Angeles quite like X. They were one of the bands first got me out going to shows and inspired an interest in music that went deeper than what was being played on the radio (something that has lasted for 30 years so far).

It seems somehow appropriate that 30 years later, despite their massive influence on music, X remains largely ‘underground’ and below the radar. However, that doesn’t stop me from telling people about them and now you can get a crash course in just 90 minutes. Here is X: The Unheard Music to tell the story of where and when they came from.
