In 1965 much of the world was obsessing over the Beatles, there were a few heretics who would claim that the Rolling Stones were better. The truth is that, in 1965, the Kinks may have been better than both of them. If it weren’t for the Beatles and the marketing and promotion machine that was Beatlemania, Ray Davies & Co could easily have been the story of the mid-1960s. Here they are performing at at Le Palais de la Mutualité, Paris on April 24th, 1965 playing “Bye Bye Johnny”, “Louie, Louie”, “You Really Got Me”, “Got Love If You Want It”, “Long Tall Shorty”, “All Day and All of the NIght” and “Hide and Seek”.
