Terry Gilliam’s New Film Searches for the Meaning of Life

Terry Gilliam is making a new film entitled The Zero Theorem. If you’re not excited already, you should be. Gilliam doesn’t work quickly, but his work has generally been brilliant. Gilliam’s films, to date, have included Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Time Bandits, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the Imaginarium of Doctor Pernassus among others. He was also JK Rowling’s first choice to direct the Harry Potter films, an idea the studio shot down. Despite all of this he is perhaps still best known as a member of the Monty Python troupe and the artist behind animations like these:

According to io9 the new film tells the tale of “a cubicle-dwelling man who’s trying to solve an equation that holds the purpose of existence. (Or lack thereof.)” Although it doesn’t tell you much about the story, this footage is from the shooting of the film:
